Advocacy

We advocate for survivors of sexual assault through counseling, and guidance through the medical and legal systems. We provide referrals and connections to other community agencies which can assist with the recovery process.

For information on our Advocacy Programs, please contact Erica Thoen, Volunteer and Advocacy Coordinator.

24-hour Crisis Line - this line is available to provide 24-hour crisis intervention, advocacy, emotional support, and referrals to callers every day of the year.

Medical Advocacy - advocates are available to respond to local hospitals, clinics and police departments when a survivor decides to report sexual assault to law enforcement.

Legal Advocacy - an advocate is able to provide information about the criminal legal process and create a bridge for survivors to other agencies including police departments, victim advocate programs within law enforcement, the district attorney's office, and court hearings when support is requested.

Financial Assistance - an advocate can assist survivors with the completion of the Crime Victim Reparations (CVR) application, offer information about the compensation process on an ongoing basis, and advocate on their behalf with CVR.

Community Resource Referrals - advocates are prepared to provide relevant, accurate information about a variety of services and resources available in the community.

All Rape Recovery Center services are available free of charge to survivors of sexual violence, their family members and friends.
